Never really realized how much Pokemon Box helped in doing my Gen 3 Living Dex. Just cutting out all of the non-Colo/XD trading while transferring to the main game is a lifesaver. Really is a shame that they didn't give XD the ability to trade with Colosseum, or access Pokemon Box.

What was the emulator/program you used to do all of this?? I want to, but because so much stuff is gate kept in terms of limited availability, time restrictions, it's impossible to do. EVen if I went and paid 300 for an old used GBA/GameCube, i'd still wouldn't be able to pull this off.

I think you can spawn some of the pokemon in alternate cave using the e-reader or am i missrembering?

I caught all of the gen 3 pokemon, with the exception of Feebas and Milotic. Those two are insanely hard to obtain in the original gen 3 games. It's a nightmare! 😭😱😖

I completed yellow but i used the safari zone glitch in red and blue to get Chansey, Tauros and Kangaskhan.

Couldn't you have just used Pokemon Box to transfer pokemon en masse between the GBA games? It still takes a little bit to setup, but can transfer entire boxes over easily

(underleveled as hell) "why am I having so much trouble?" jirachi wasn't gonna do anything if you're gonna be 10 levels under. The Numel weren't gonna do you any good either because they barely had any training, and were again 10 levels under. If they were like 5 levels, MAYBE you would have had a chance, but you were doomed to lose because they had very little EVs, and were never gonna tank Torcoal's attacks even with a quad resist.

Gabby and Ty- the tv people in emerald stop moving after the 255th battle... exp rates jump significantly afterwards, only having to cycle up to the next route and return to re-battle

I was enjoyed the video until the "grass pkmn are weak" section. The video jumped from "This is a cool challenge, I have put a lot of thought into it" to "I cry for 3 minutes because I'm rushing everything brainlessly and dont want to spend a couple of minutes fixing my team". Those encounters arent difficult, you are just playing poorly.

In at least Gen 1, you can turn 90% in place for a chance to proc a Pokémon encounter without using any steps

tbf using pokemon box on the gamecube would have saved you hours of trading and moving pokemon around. european pal versions arent as rare since it was bundled with colosseum in some cases, or you could just run it from custom firmware to save money. also when done you could have used it to move the whole dex easily over to frlg and rs to get hose diplomas for free

Wow. This video is entertaining but wow you don't know much about Pokemon and it's mechanics, do you? I mean I am out since emerald came out. It's my last Pokemon game and I loved it. But I was not good in this game. But it looks like I'm a genius compared to you. You don't know that you should have different type of Pokemon and attacks too beat your opponent and be at nearly the same level as them. Or that you don't get the fishing mechanic. You don't push the A button when the text box says, you push the button when the rod wiggles. You got about 1-2 seconds to push the button. A normal reaction time of a normal human is slightly under 0,5 seconds. If feel embarrassed to hear your struggle. But still ... you are way better than I ever will be. Because if I wold struggle this hard I wouldn't do what you did. Making a living Dex is impressive

I spent so long as a kid racking my brain and exploring every inch of the place in Crystal, I just knew there had to be a secret, especially with the radio channel! Turns out there really wasn't anything, a real missed opportunity on the dev's part.

My personal favorite method to complete the Pokedex in a generation is to basically do a co-op run: aim to complete it in *all the games involved,* to cut down on the amount of useless trade fodder I need to catch. It's a lot more work doing it that way but honestly, catching 'em all is for me the most fun I've ever had in the entire series. I completed the Pokedex on real hardware on Diamond version, on my age-old savefile I started when I first got the game shortly after it first came out (been sitting at 999:59 hours for years now, lol), using my two busted old DS's along with my 3DS's trading stuff across all the gen 4 games I owned. And on top of that I built a *living Dex* in Diamond as well, so I had to do a *lot* of level grinding to evolve my pokemon with the laggy battle system in Diamond/Pearl. It's probably my proudest achievement in my life so far. Your video is inspiring me to take on this challenge again. I love Colosseum and absolutely wouldn't mind playing through it again, it's my favorite game in the whole series and I'm curious how Gale of Darkness will compare to it.

Lyra is the real world Ash Ketchum: super passionate, but no idea how to battle Pokemon. You're not a speed runner and neither am I, but stop and train your team a little. Get six Pokemon of different types and give them a mix of type attack moves. You're pretty much set.
